Kyiv

Kyiv is the caital of Ukraine. It's one of the oldest cities of Europe. It is situated on the picturesque banks of the Dnipro River. The population of Kyiv is about 3 million.

Kyiv is a large political, industrial, cultural and scientific centre. There are many theatres, museums, exhibitions in Kyiv. The most famous theatre is the National Opera and Ballet Theatre. The most famous educational institution of Ukraine is the National University named after Shevchenko. On the Dnopro hills you can see a symbol of the ancient city, the monument to Pince Volodymyr.

A lot of tourists come to Kyiv. The central street of the capital is Khreschatyk. There are many fine buildings in Khreschatyk. Kyiv is especially beautiful in spring when the famous Kyiv chestnut trees are in blossom.
